Detail: Quetzalcoatl or Feathered Serpent was god of wind, creativity, and fertility in Aztec and other Mesoamerican religions. Perhaps, Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl ruled 923 to 947, was Mixcoatl's son, and founded capital at Tula, 60 km north of Mexico City. It had 30,000 and 60,000 people, with temples and palaces. Opponents of worshiping Quetzalcoatl drove him from city, and he went to Chichen Itza [990].
