Detail: Old-Persian palace was on a raised platform. Rooms, halls, and courts had many slender, fluted columns. Wooden roofs had beams fitted into column capitals. Relief sculptures had solemn ceremonial figures, mixing nomadic ornamentation styles with Greek and Sumerian styles.
